Finally, Politics

I never write about politics. Guess after tonight I won’t be able to say that again. I’m finally writing about politics. Not really, though. I’m actually writing about my own thoughts. Nowhere that I write do I ever mention politics. I’m now wondering why. I think about politics, I watch political news shows. I guess someone who watches more news than the “Nightly News” is considered a political junky because that’s why I’m watching. I want to know what crazy things are going on in our world of politics. I want to know if while I slept, or while I was away from the news, Trump took himself out of the race. A girl can hope.

The truth: I do not think Trump should be running for president. In fact, I think it’s absurd that he is. What’s more absurd is that people who have a voice nationally are talking about crap such as should he be convicted of any of the 91 counts he’s indicted on, how would he go about serving his sentence? Whiplash! What? Would they allow him those four years to serve and go to prison after he is out of office? Maybe, those talking heads say. Are they kidding? Seriously, are they kidding? No, sadly, they are not. I think if nothing and no one can keep him from running, then someone should invoke the 14th amendment and do so quickly, while we still have a Constitution. Maybe doing that would ensure we continue to have a Constitution. Flawed as it may be, and we all know it is, it’s better than Trump back in the White House. I know Joe Biden is old, but so is Trump. They are both old men, but given that choice, I’ll vote Joe each and every time. Let’s see, why would I do that?

~ I’ve seen both men in office.

~ That is probably all I need to say, but I can’t help myself.

~ Trump talked, babbled, caused problem after problem, talked about himself incessantly. That was actually about all he would do; Joe did actual governing, and he did or tried hard to do what he talked about when running for office. If he didn’t, it’s because of Congress, not because he didn’t try. At least he brought things up. Joe tried. Trump had no intention of being a good president or any kind of president. He had no clue what the job was about. Joe is a seasoned politician, at home in D. C.

~ So, why am I voting for Joe and doing so proudly? Read his record. Is he old? Sure. They are both old men. Given that choice, I’ll vote for Joe each and every time. Have you seen the other guy? Do you have any memory of his term in office? How about what happened after?

~ This one doesn’t really belong on my list of reasons I’m voting for Joe, but I honestly don’t care. The fact that there are living, breathing, sentient people in this country who witnessed all of Trump’s years in office and will vote for him again blows my mind. That I actually know some is even worse. That I am related to only a couple of them (but that’s two people) is painful. Again, they kidding? Who could possibly have watched and witnessed what Trump’s years in office were like and wish that on themselves, not to mention the rest of us, again.

Why do people vote against their own best interests? Can someone explain that to me? Pretty please?

~ This one would be lower on the list if I were planning to list each and every reason I am not voting for Trump, but – and let’s all be honest – Joe restored decorum to the White House. We can go a whole day and hear nothing about Joe because he is quietly doing his job. He’s not texting, and he’s not throwing a temper tantrum. The White House has class once again. Going from the Obamas to the Trumps was worse than fingernails on a chalkboard (a whole generation doesn’t even know how that sounds), but if we compare it to that, we had FOUR years, divided into 1,460 days, of hearing that sound all the time we were awake. Every single minute. Trading the Obamas for the Trumps was actually lots worse than incessant nails scratching a chalkboard, but it’s late and I’m tired. I’ll have to think of something better.

Getting this out of me and on this computer feels good.

To be continued…

BRomero

Hmmmm. Wife, mother, grandmother. Retired zany English teacher who had the pleasure to teach gifted and Advanced Placement students. Usually optimistic, though lately that's been harder. I am a political junky, though I never write about it. Living life one day at a time, have learned that retirement is busier than being employed!
